Collaborations

Help for Heroes® is strengthened through strategic partnerships that expand access to mental health and substance use treatment for active duty military personnel, veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and their families. By collaborating with trusted organizations and community partners, the program improves care coordination, increases awareness, and helps reduce barriers to treatment, ensuring those who serve can connect with the right level of support when they need it.

Consortium for Defense Psychology

The Help for Heroes® program at Lifepoint Behavioral Health is proud to help advance the mission of the Consortium for Defense Psychology (CDP) of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). CDP provides specialized training for mental health providers in evidence-based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).

PsychArmor®

Help for Heroes® partners with PsychArmor, a nationally recognized leader in military cultural awareness and competency training. PsychArmor’s educational ecosystem includes online courses, podcasts, live trainings, and consultation—developed and led by Veterans, military-connected professionals, and clinical psychologists. This collaboration helps our teams and partners better understand military culture, connect individuals to VA resources, and create stronger outcomes for Veterans, their families, caregivers, and the communities that support them.

SMART Recovery USA

SMART Recovery USA trains and supports volunteers and professionals to implement our secular evidence-based mutual support group programs for any addictive behavior throughout the United States. Our 4-Point Program, grounded in cognitive behavioral and motivational enhancement science, offers participants practical tools to use as they build the life that they want to lead. Our program and meetings are explicitly supportive of MAT, all harm reduction goals (including abstinence), and, most foundationally, the individual agency of participants. SMART also offers programs specifically for Family & Friends, as well as for individuals experiencing incarceration. While we work to expand the availability of in-person meetings nationwide, a wide variety of meetings can also be attended online, including meetings for specific populations of individuals, like veterans and first responders.
